Meet the band

Angela Arnott (Bass & Vocals)  Born into a musical family I started playing guitar at the age of 10. Fast forward 10 years I performed as singer/rhythm guitarist in a covers duo in local pubs and clubs. A few years later, I took up the bass and joined a popular all female band 'Anni's other business'. 9 years on, I played in Bristol based show bands and an Americana/country rock band 'Kentucky Fryd', performing original songs and covers at festivals, pubs and clubs across the south west. 2015 I returned to playing locally in various lineups and in 2021, Dave, the lead guitarist from Borderlines asked if I'd play bass for them. The opportunity to be part of a fun and talented 7 piece local band was too good to resist.
Niki Felstead (Lead & Backing Vocals)  I’ve been an avid shower singer for many years and had performed on and off as part of a duo since leaving drama school in 2007. I’d really been missing singing and was invited to sing a number with Borderlines last July.  Not long after Dave got in touch to say they were looking for a new vocalist and here we are today. It’s been a fab year so far and I’m really loving being on stage with this lovely bunch.

Dave Kersley (Lead Guitar)  I don’t have a history of playing with other bands, as until Summer 2020, I was playing and recording only for my own pleasure. That all changed when I had THE phone call from Richard (Harrison). Richard explained he was forming a local band (Richard living in Devauden), and would I be interested? I bit his hand off, and am so grateful that he made that call, as the band became Borderlines. Having never performed with or in front of others previously, the transition has been surprisingly natural, and I love every minute playing with these guys.

Richard Harrison (Sax & Vocals)  Often great things come from a small idea, tenaciously held onto. Borderlines began (in my head) as a practice band, with the idea that the bridge between being a non-professional musician and being in a band was not as wide as we sometimes perceive it to be. Balancing playing the sax, work, family, and a good few step changes including Italy and South Africa, has only strengthened my personal resolve and determination to follow music as my number 1 passion. Borderlines is a band that likes to have fun and play the music we love most, drawn from a range of styles. It's hard to say which styles of music I don't like. Instruments like the sax do help us to create a more distinctive "Borderlines sound"; we don't feel we need permission to step away from tradition and add colour to our shows.

Terry Sagar (Percussion)  My first memory of wanting to play the drums was when I was about ten, but had no idea how to go about it and was not aware of any female role models. Aged 15 I bought my first set of bongos and shortly after a set of beautiful congos. I played percussion and flute in a band for several years thereafter. At twentyone the band rented a house together with all the equipment set up giving me an opportunity to start experimenting on a kit. I absolutely loved it and haven't looked back since, playing in several bands over the years. Bassist Angela and me have played together in some of the line ups I've been in and when she asked me if I would be interested in joining Borderlines I jumped at the chance. I am very much the newcomer but having met and heard everyone at rehearsals I already know I have made a good choice and look forward to the future with this fun and musically talented band.

Tony Summers (Rhythm Guitar & Vocals)  My first band was at the tender age of 14 when I was substitute bassist in the "Devil's Disciples", based in Buckingham. We were not very good! School, college, work, and then marriage got in the way of any musical ambition until later in life. I started doing open mics in the Wye Valley, and then pub and village hall gigs with another local guitarist, Richard Trigg, then more recently my wife, Eileen. At the same time, I was heavily involved with acting in panto, and performing at the Savoy, Monmouth. I joined Borderlines in 2020, and have enjoyed every minute. I'm the self-appointed joker of the band, although the others probably see me as the clown!
A great bunch, who like fun, but also take the music very seriously!

Roger Tucker (Keys)  Moving from accompanying soloists, choirs and congregations to playing keyboard in a rock band has taken a bit of getting used to. Keys were the final addition to the band & unlike the others I didn't get a call from Richard, but responded to his online advert, fancying a change. I enjoy the low-key role (no pun intended) & being free to enhance the sound in different ways whilst the others provide the solid foundation. It continues to be quite a learning journey, but has also been a good excuse to splash out on a new keyboard!
